Immigration Canada Planning To Deport 4 Children To Somalia On Tuesday

CALL IMMIGRATION AND DEMAND THAT THEY ALLOW THE ABDULLAHI FAMILY TO REMAIN IN CANADA AND GRANT THEM STATUS!

In danger of immediate deportation are:

Yasmin Abdullahi, born October 16, 1983

Ayan Abdullahi, born July 21, 1984

Amin Abdullahi, born December 24, 1985

Bilal Abdullahi, born September 15, 1988

Yasmin Abdullahi and her 3 brothers and sisters must show up for deportation to the US on Tuesday, July 26th, or a federal warrant will be issued for their arrest. If deported to the US, these 4 young people, ages 16 – 21, will be detained or deported to Somalia.

Currently, they have no family in Somalia. Separated from their parents when civil war broke out in the early 90’s, Yasmin and her siblings were left with a grandmother. Growing up in the Mibcan clan, and considered to be ‘untouchables’ in Somalia, Yasmin and her family faced continual state repression, including persecution and rape, and suffered as a result of
fighting between clans.

This is the same situation Yasmin, Ayan, Amin and Bilal will face if deported back to Somalia now.

Yasmin and her siblings fled to Kenya in 1991. Later, in 2000, when Yasmin was just 16 years old, she and her brothers and sisters came to Canada without any parent or guardian. Fortunately, once arriving in Canada, the 4 children were re-united with their mother’s sister, whom they have lived with since that time.

Now, Yasmin, Ayan, Amin and Bilal are in grave danger. Their refugee claim was refused on the grounds that they are, according to Immigration Canada, “to educated to be Somalis”.

We need your support to help this family stay in Canada. Please take 5 minutes of your time to contact the Minister of Immigration Joe Volpe at the coordinates below.

In solidarity and struggle,
